Hello there. I’m Lee, Departmental Head for Driver Operations. I’ve worked for Warburtons for 31 years, starting off as a Van Assistant in 1986. In 1989, I became a Sales Delivery Driver and then promoted to Team Manager in 1998. In 2008, I was again promoted this time to Van Operations Manager, the position I hold today.

Typically, my busy day consists of daily debriefs of operations which includes delivery times, order fulfilment, vehicle maintenance and many other operational activities. Between 10am and 1pm, I spend a lot of time engaging with managers and drivers and looking at ways of improving daily operations. The afternoons are usually dedicated to working in project areas such as Quality, Cost Control or Talent.

You know what makes Warburtons special? It always puts people at the heart of its ethos - employees, customers, suppliers and any other stakeholders. One of my highlights was meeting the Queen in 2009 and talking her through our delivery operation.

If anybody was thinking of a career in Warburtons, I would definitely recommend it has a great place to work. If you’re looking to work in a delivery operation as a Manager, I would suggest getting firm foundation working on the shop floor.
